By analyzing the relationship between idioms and culture, the writer finds that culture sense profoundly plays a important role in idioms translation. Comparing the differences and similarities between English and Chinese culture sense and applying them in translation practice are the dusk of a translator. As a translator, one should try his best to improve cross-cultural sensibility. One should not only possess bilingual ability, but also be well-versed in bi-cultural or even multi-cultural knowledge. Only in this way can he uncover cultural information in the process of bilingual communication and avoid any possible misunderstanding or misinterpretation of idioms, and, finally, accommodate himself to the need of effective communication in multicultural environment.
