摘要:本文是一篇英语翻译论文题目,笔者认为作为一本经典的教学著作,《学会教学:英语教学必备指南》(第三版)不仅继承和发扬了前两版的优点,还更新和增添了第14章和15章关于教学技术、教学工具、教学技巧等方面的内容,对教师提升自身的教学技能等起到了积极的指导作用。

Li (2020) believes that translation involves three intertwined and mutually reinforcing processes: comprehension, expression and adaptation. Translation is the process of solving problems through comprehension, expression, and adaptation. The CEA framework has been put forward formally and completely, providing a new path for students to write translation practice reports.

Comprehension includes understanding both the content and the characteristics of the original text. The translator’s understanding of the content of the ST must be deep and meticulous, to a degree that is close to, comparable to, or even surpassing the author’s level (Li, 2020). Comprehension is the most fundamental and crucial step in translation, because only things that are fully understood can be expressed effectively (Liu, 2006). Expression refers to faithfully conveying the meaning of the original work or the author’s intention in a language that meets the reader’s habits (Li, 2020). 

3.2 Other Related Theories

During the translation process, some theories seemed to fall under the CEA framework to analyze the cases. They were mainly Reiss’ Text Typology, Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory, Skopos Theory and Grice’s Cooperative Principle.

Different texts have different linguistic characteristics. In order to ensure that the linguistic features of the ST are kept in the TT, translators need to carefully analyze the specific type of the ST and select appropriate translation strategies accordingly. As one of the founders of the German Functionalism, Katharina Reiss divided the text types into four categories (i.e. informative text, expressive text, operative text, and audio-medial text) and believed that a text may exhibit characteristics of several of these text types, but one of them often predominates. When translating, different translation methods should be adopted according to the different characteristics of the discourse. Informative texts mainly communicate facts, information, knowledge, and viewpoints. Their language is logical, and they often use referential meaning of words, with the focus of communication being on content or topic (Reiss, 2014). Therefore, when translating informative texts, the translator should render the content or conceptual content indicated in the ST, and the language of the translation work should be clear and straightforward, avoiding repetition but providing explanations when necessary. Learning Teaching 3 is an educational informative text, belonging to the category of informative texts. Therefore, the translation should adhere to the principles of translating informative texts.
