In the United States,the legal environment concerning fan fiction is influenced by specificlaws and court cases.American copyright laws include the principle of“Fair Use”to offersome protection for fan fiction.If the necessary conditions of this principle are met,it will notbe judged as infringement.However,the copyright disputes in the current situation will bemore complicated.In cases where legal rules are ambiguous,peer groups will regulate theirmembers through social norms.The binding force of norms is mainly attributed to the groupidentity of members within the community,and this effect sometimes extends beyondcopyright laws and regulations.Therefore,formulating formal social norms through theinternal forces of the community can compensate for the imperfections of the law to a certainextent and promote the creation of fan fiction(Fiesler&Bruckman 2019:1).

1.2 Significance of Fan Fiction Translation
