除了了解题目及摘要翻译时的注意事项和方法、技巧外,由于中英文对专业术语的习惯叫法不尽相同,有的比较类似,如:高压圈改造high pressure loop revamp ing,低温变换low temperatureshift等;而有的差异却较大,如:气流床气化炉entrained flow gasifier(英文中就没有“床bed”),一段炉下集气管inletmanifold of primary reformer(中国人习惯用该管实际所在位置来称呼,而英美人则喜欢根据工艺位置来称呼)等。国内科技论文要求给出英文题目、摘要及关键词是出于国际交流的需要,其主要目的是方便国外人员检索和查寻,因此,作/译者应尽可能多读国外英文技术期刊的相关文章或相关专业的英文文章,以使自己撰写或翻译出的文题及摘要更符合英美人的习惯,避免中国式英文引出误解甚至笑话。
