Chapter 5 Conclusion

5.1 Major Findings

Through the analysis of the experimental data,it can be concluded that the threehypotheses the experimenter confirmed before.Observations indicate that theexperimental multi-modal approaches have the potential to enhance rural Englishvocabulary instruction and improve students'lexical competence.They also stimulatea greater enthusiasm for learning English vocabulary.These teaching strategyoptimization serves as a valuable reference basis for improvement of future ruralEnglish vocabulary pedagogy.Analyzing the experimental results and data,the mainfindings are presented in the following.

First of all,the main problems exist in English vocabulary teaching in rural juniormiddle schools need to pay more attention to make the teaching optimization andsupplementary of the new optimization strategy on multi-modal teaching,so as to findout the more suitable teaching mode for students.The traditional teaching modes arethe single vocabulary teaching mode,lack of interaction in vocabulary teaching,insufficient use of auditory,visual,tactile and other modes and lack of Englishvocabulary learning context creation as well.By analyzing the class observation andinterview for teachers,most of teachers just use traditional teaching method and lackof creativity,few of them use more than three modalities at one time.Vocabularylessons always lack of active atmosphere,most of students don't like to speak out andthey just learn words mechanically.And students can't really understand how to usethe words they have learned.They lack of teaching conditions,students lack a goodteaching and language environment.A large number of students have a poorfoundation of English learning,they do not understand the interaction practice valueof English teaching and learning,and have poor language sense and cognition.Withthe improvement of junior high school curriculum knowledge,many students feel thepressure of English learning and even some of them want to give up this subjects infuture learning.Therefore it is high time to improve the current situation ofvocabulary teaching for rural English teacher and English classroom teaching reforms.
