本文是一篇英语论文提纲，笔者通过翻译实践，文本研究和论文写作，笔者更加深入地了解了传记文本的文本特征，提高了英汉两种语言的翻译转换和应用能力，并且能够通过分析文本特征找到相应的翻译策略。但笔者同时也发现了翻译中存在的不足，并且本文的重点在于讨论传记翻译特点，并未涉及对诗歌翻译的讨论。

Chapter One Task Description

1.1 Background of the Translation Task

Biographies are powerful documents selectively organized,described,and illustrated from avariety of written and oral memories,investigations,letters,and other relevant materials.In theprocess of describing the deeds of the subjects,the biographer may penetrate some of his ownfeelings,imagination or inference,which has strong literary characteristics.Through readingbiographies,readers can truly and effectively understand the main character’s life story and innerjourney,and can also obtain spiritual enlightenment from it.What’s more,literary texts are part ofworld literature,and through translation,literary texts can be shared and experienced indirectly.

With the acceleration of globalization,China gradually accepts multiculturalism,and thefrequency of communication between China and Western countries is also increasing.If the Chinesewants to have an accurate and comprehensive understanding of foreign culture and literature,theintroduction and translation of foreign works can become an essential component of globalization.Besides,the translation of western biographies has also accelerated the historical process of themodern transformation of Chinese biographies(Gu,2004:95).As Lucas Klein(2014:57-60)says,nomatter how world literature is defined,it must be based on translation.The translation of biographiesof foreign celebrities,is the basic way for domestic readers to understand them,and thus thetranslation of biographies is of great significance.

1.2 Translation Process

The process of translation mainly includes three stages:pre-translation,mid-translation andpost-translation.The pre-translation stage is the preparatory work before translation,including thereading and understanding of the original text,the culture of the target language,and the preparationof translation resources.The stage of mid-translation is the practice stage of translation,which iscritical and difficult to determine the quality of translation.The post-translation stage is the processof proofreading and revising the translation after the translation.In the following,the author willanalyze and elucidate the three stages according to the translation practice,and explore the findingsof in translation.

1.2.1 Pre-translation

Pre-translation is directly related to the quality and efficiency of translation.Its importance liesin providing a more solid foundation for the translation process,avoiding unnecessary difficultiesand errors in the translation process,and ensuring the accuracy and fluency of the translation results.The translation practice of the source text requires the preparation of translation tools,includingonline and paper dictionaries,search engines,Keats-related biographical texts and parallel texts ofKeats’poetry translation,as well as the formulation of a detailed translation schedule.
