本文是一篇英语翻译论文题目，笔者在交际翻译为主，语义翻译为辅的翻译策略下，采取了相应的翻译方法和技巧。1）文化负载词：意译法、直译或音译加注释；2）现代诗歌中的流水句：编译法、借译法；3）古文典籍中的引文：增译法、套译法；4）无主句：重组法、转换法。笔者希望在此翻译实践的基础上，为散文随笔翻译实践提供参考和借鉴。

Chapter One Task Description

1.1 Background of Translation Task

The translation material is selected from chapter three and six of the collection of essays “Reflections Through Eyes” by Tao Yong, a famous Chinese ophthalmologist. This book tells author’s own experience and original aspiration as a doctor, as well as his own thinking about career and life. It conveys universal values on life and death, good and evil, learning and education, lifelong choices, and examples for the world. At the same time, the topics involved are also closely related to current events- the intense relationship between doctors and patients. Alongside that self-reflection, outlook on money and thinking on values, trust, love, career and prospects for blind children and undertakings on scientific research are discussed in this book. The content of this book is inspiring for everyone’s growth. 

 In addition, this book belongs to essays and prose, and is written by a doctor. The language is plain and simple, and the emotion is real. It is easy for readers to read and resonate with the author and absorb ideological value in this book. As far as the author is concerned, since the book is developed from a first-person narration perspective, and the language style is more modern, the overall translation difficulty is moderate, but there are also certain cross-cultural and cross-context words and sentences, culture-loaded words, etc. The author needs to think deeply about how to realize the code conversion between the two languages to the largest extend. This material has certain practical value. 

1.2 Translation Process

The translation process is mainly divided into three stages, namely the pre-translation preparation stage, the initial translation and the re-translation stage, and the post-translation proofreading stage.  1.2.1 Pre-translation

Since the text material is an essay, which has a certain literary feature and covers a wide range of content, the translator needs to have a comprehensive and correct grasp of the whole book, and must have a thorough understanding of the cultural knowledge involved in the book in advance. In the whole process, the author needs to think about what translation method, translation strategy, and translation theory should be used to guide practice in translation. Firstly, read the original work thoroughly, grasp the writing style of the original work, understand the connotation of the original work, record the cultural gaps in the original work, and translate the Medical terms, philosophy, famous sayings and aphorisms involved in the book. Secondly, solve the knowledge blind spots and problems in understanding the original work by consulting the materials, communicating with the original author, and book reviews, etc. Finally, document these issues. In addition, it is necessary to use the language of Westerners as much as possible to describe Chinese thoughts and values since this text belongs to the category of essays, and is translated from Chinese to English, the final translation is to serve Western readers.
