So accuracy is the basic requirement of the interpreting and the interpreter should make sure there is no misunderstanding or mistakes, which means he should understand the two cultures a nd know linguistic differences. 

Chapter Two Interpreting Process

2.1 Pre-interpreting

Preparation for the interpreting task is an important step, for it has a big influence on the efficiency and quality of the interpreting. The interpreting of the Report on the Work of Sichuan Provincial Government in 2023 is not only an interpreting of the original text, but a comprehensive understanding of the local policies, political terms, and relevant background information. Therefore, the author has done some preparation as follows before the interpreting. 

To begin with, she prepared for the simulated conference. As it is the first time she would do the interpreting of the government work report, she chose the Report on the Work of the Government in 2022 as a reference in advance. She practiced reading and learning some parts of the bilingual edition of the official report for a month in order to improve her familiarity with this political text and learn some interpreting skills and relevant expressions.

More importantly, she also did some preparation for the background information. She surfed the internet to review some major projects and policies in Sichuan to have a basic overview of the strategies and aims of local Sichuan government. In addition, she read many political news from China Daily and CGTN to learn about political terms and high-frequency sentences in political discourse, so that when doing the real on-site C-E interpreting she could interpret as accurately as possible and impart correct information. 

2.2 While-interpreting

After the preparation of interpreting, she did the C-E Consecutive interpreting of the Report on the Work of Sichuan Provincial Government in 2023 (Excerpts), and the excerpted part is about 10 000 words. In order to keep the interpreting more authentic, the author found a quiet room as the simulated site, invited some of her friends as listeners and asked one as the spokesman. The author sat beside the spokesman to do the interpreting without the original text. Before interpreting, she checked the video equipment and her notebook and pens for a full preparation. To simulate the atmosphere of the conference, the author also dressed in a suit and avoided unnecessary communications with the listeners.

After that, she put aside the interpreting after the first proofreading, and after about two days, she took it out again to prepare for the second proofreading. The second proofreading was mainly a review of the revised version from the original text, and she reviewed the first revised version from the language of English, so that she could check for problems such as redundancy of vocabulary and inaccuracy of phrases, and then she completed the second revision.
