摘要:本文是一篇英语翻译论文,此次模拟交传实践是在释意理论的指导下完成的。释意理论的核心观点是译者不应该追求语言形式的对等,而应该追求意义的对等,它将口译过程分为三个阶段:理解源语、脱离源语外壳和重新表达。而作者在总结分析了自己模拟中的问题之后,将其分为了三类:语序不当、表达不地道、表达不合逻辑。
2.1.1 Preliminary Interpreting Plan
First of all,it is necessary to do a little research on the speaker in terms of hisspeaking preference.After watching some other videos recorded by Professor Adam,a native English speaker,it can be easily noticed that he speaks standard AmericanEnglish fluently and clearly,which makes it easier to understand compared with otherprofessors who speak with some accents,but hard to follow because he speaks a littlebit faster than others.Therefore,the author could never pay attention to every word ofthe source text and had to focus on the core meaning conveyed by the speaker.Andwhat makes it harder is that Adam is a humorous person who gives thosedemonstrations in a funny manner,so it would be perfect if such style could be foundin the target text.However,great differences in the way of thinking and expression doexist between Chinese and English cultures.Consequently,this practice should bedone using domestication strategy most of the time so as to make the target text easierto understand,but foreignization strategy such as transliteration should also be appliedwhen interpreting names of foreigners or foreign companies.
2.2 While-interpreting
This practice is a simulated English-Chinese consecutive interpreting.In order toget a better understanding of the speech,the author determined to pause at each sensegroup and started interpreting,so the length of each segment varies.
The equipment used in the practice included a notebook designed for interpreting,a pen for taking notes,a computer for playing the videos and a cell phone forrecording the interpreting.After confirming that all the equipment could work andmeet his requirements,the author started the practice,if necessary,he would takenotes to help him memorize the key information of the speech,and after pausing thevideo,he interpreted according to what he listened,grasped and remembered and to what the notes suggested.Compared with the 65-minute speech,the interpreting lastsfor nearly 107 minutes,which is caused by the fact that Adam spoke much faster thanthe author interpreted,and short-term memory is limited to about 7 numbers or words(Zhang,2011:77).And because the task is kind of long and challenging,the authordecided to take a break after several minutes of interpreting and complete the task in 5times.
During the simulated interpreting process,the author realized that Adam spokequite fast,and due to the fact that he wrote down too many notes at first,he could notfollow him,omitting some key words and failing to figure out the logic of the sourcetext.Fortunately,the author was gradually aware of that and he decided to focus oncomprehending the source text,thus improving the quality of interpretation.However,as time went by,the author got distracted or tired sometimes,that is why the quality ofinterpretation fell dramatically at the end of each recording.In addition,if he couldnot understand the whole sentence at all,he could be nervous and such turbulence inhis mental state could also significantly affect the quality of interpretation.In a word,those factors contributed to the result that sometimes the author paused fo本论文由英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写,英语论文代写,代写论文,代写英语论文,代写留学生论文,代写英文论文,留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
