Animated films are an important part of the cultural and creative industries and candrive the development of related industrial chains,such as games,toys,etc.AllowingChinese animated films to go abroad can showcase China’s excellent cultural creativity,increase cultural soft power,enhance international image and influence,and create hugeeconomic and social benefits.As the domestic animation industry becomes increasinglyprominent,the government has introduced a series of policies to support the field.Thesemeasures include granting tax incentives to local animation companies,promoting corporateasset securitization,and other related strategies.

Over the past decade,Chinese animated films have been performing well and haveachieved remarkable results.According to data from the China Animated Film Industry2020-2026 Market Investment and Development Trend Analysis Report,China’s animatedfilm market has expanded by 38.43%in the past six years,and average box office revenuehas increased by 2.8 times.In 2019,domestically produced animated films accounted for62.25%of the total animated film box office revenue.In addition,in terms of productionquantity,domestically produced animated films have always occupied an important position,with an average of about 50 films produced annually from 2015 to 2023.

1.2 Research Objective

This paper takes the C-E translation of the movie Monkey King:Hero Is Back as anexample to analyze the translational eco-environment of this animated film,and delve intothe characteristics of animated films and the characteristics of subtitle translation foranimated movies.Using the Three-Dimensional Transformation approach fromEco-translatology studies,this paper examines the successes and shortcomings of the C-Esubtitle translation of this animated movie,explores how the Three-DimensionalTransformation approach addresses the challenges faced in translating animated films,andcombines case studies to propose recommendations for applying Eco-translatology strategiesin future animated movie subtitle translations.This paper will primarily address thefollowing questions:1.The characteristics of translating subtitles for animated films inEnglish and the difficulties and challenges that arise from these characteristics.2.How theThree-Dimensional Transformation approach in Eco-translatology studies addresses thedifficulties and challenges of translating animated movie subtitles.
