摘要:本文是一篇英语文学论文,本文运用译者行为批评理论,结合韩南的翻译思想(保留与同化),以韩南英译《三遂平妖传》译本为例,分析翻译中的译者行为。

e find some substitute familiar to the receiving culture” (Hanan, 2001:71). Assimilation means the transformation of the original text by the translator into a form familiar to the general reader. For example, in order to achieve the effect of natural verisimilitude, the translation has to be paid more attention to the situation than to the language.  

2.2.1 Preservation and Truth-seeking

The best translation should be exactly equivalent to the content and form of the source language. But, “no communication act is completely equivalent to another that happens in a different moment of time, in a different cultural text, and especially, in a different language. There is no one ‘correct’ translation that perfectly represents the original. Rather, every translation negotiates meaning with a series of gains and losses” (Bell, 2016: 82). Thus, preservation reflects the translator’s approbatory attitude towards the original object, and conveys the structure, style, and implication of the original metaphor as completely as possible, so as to excavate and get close to the value of the source language. There are many aspects of translator’s preservation, mainly in the following situations. One is the translator’s preservation orientation, mainly considering the original reproduction of the value of the source language. The second is the complete equivalence to figurative meaning in source language and target language. So, translator has to preserve these completely equivalent figurative meaning in translation. Third, although the image of the source language is not equivalent to the target language, its loaded figurative meaning is not difficult to be accepted or understood by the target audience, so the direct transplantation of an exotic image is not impossible.

4.1 Linguistic Features in Translation

“Translation is, at its core, a linguistic act” (House, 2015: 2). In the process of translation, translator often show more language nature in switching codes than social nature. From the perspective of linguistics, translator usually tends to seek the truth of the original style and linguistic feature with subsidiary utility-attaining behavior.
