3.1.1 Conversion of Coordinate Prepositions

As the form words or function words,although prepositions are essential in expressinggrammatical relationships,they have no practical meaning in English and cannot be used assentence components alone.Therefore,some prepositions are often omitted or shifted in E-Ctranslation.Omitting refers to the omission of redundant words from the perspective of thetarget language in the original text.It does not reduce the actual concepts expressed by thevocabulary,nor does it affect the ideological content of the original text(Mu Lei,2011).

Conclusion

This chapter provides a comprehensive summary of the author’s translation practice andreflection,mainly highlighting the efforts made by the author in this translation practice,thatis,the author’s experiences in using various translation techniques to solve translationproblems during the translation process.In the summary of various translation difficulties,theauthor elaborated in detail on the application and reflection of translation techniques,providing guidance for the author’s future translation work.Through this translation practice,the author has gained a deeper understanding of the translation of prose texts.Specialattention should be paid to the change from parataxis language to hypotaxis language in theE-C translation practice of prose texts.The main summary is expatiated as follows based onthe three translation challenges and corresponding solutions encountered by the author intranslation practice.

When translating coordinate nouns and coordinate prepositions,attention should be paidto ensuring the consistency of structural forms when translating these coordinate structures.The four-character structures and repetition method were used in translating coordinate nounsand coordinate prepositions,respectively to conform to the expression habits of the targetlanguage.It can be seen that,to a certain extent,these methods can enhance the rhythmicbeauty of phonology,the neat beauty of form and the imagery beauty of content.However,itis important to use the four-character structures properly to avoid being cumbersome,so theauthor did not use the four-character structures everywhere in translation to translatecoordinate nouns.
