4.1 CI Study of Dialogues Between Jane Eyre and RochesterWhen the First Time They Came Across.
One afternoon in January Jane Eyre went to the village Post office to send aletter after she had stayed for three months in Thomfield, after she sat on a stile toobserve the sun go down, she prepared to return to Thomfield by the light of the moon.Suddenly, a clatter of hoofs from the lane came to her. She was so scared that therewould be a Gytrash—a ghost which could appear with the form of various kinds ofanimals. However, when she saw a man on the horse, she was sure that it couldn’t bea ghost. Then the horse slipped on the icy ground and the rider fell down from thehorse. The rider’s dog barked to Jane again and again which seems to ask Jane forhelp. The horse and its rider both struggled to their feet. Then Jane learned that theman had sprained his ankle and Jane run to them providing help. The first time theymet each other under such circumstances, being unfamiliar to each other, even thougha moment later during the chance encounter Rochester knew that Jane was Adele’sfamily tutor in Thornfield.
