摘要:本文是一篇英语语言学论文,本研究对国内外元话语以及身份构建的研究成果进行回顾,并在回顾的基础上对元话语已有的研究进行深度述评。

本文是一篇英语语言学论文,本研究的启示包括两点,理论上,元话语理论与身份建构理论的结合,为学术英语写作中的元话语提供了新的研究视角。实践上,对教师教学而言,教师需在教学中加强元话语理论和身份理论等知识的教授;对学生学习而言,学生应增强对语言文化知识的学习,从而提高摘要写作水平。

Chapter One Introduction

1.1 Research Background

Academic discourse is a socially situated linguistic activity in which authors activelyparticipate.It serves as a means for scholars to present their academic viewpoints and research findings.The abstract of a paper provides an overview of the research problem,methods,results,and conclusions,allowing readers to quickly grasp the main points of thepaper.Its primary purpose is to help readers determine whether the paper is relevant to theirinterests,whether it provides useful information for their research,and whether they shouldread the full paper.In academic writing,authors need to establish their identity within thediscipline by adhering to the rhetorical traditions prevalent in the field.These rhetoricaltraditions encompass the beliefs,values,and paradigms within the discipline.This behaviorcan be referred to as disciplinary identity construction strategies.It not only conveysdisciplinary theories but also shapes the self-image of the scholar.Therefore,the success ofthe abstract section to a certain extent determines whether scholars can gain academicreputation and construct their academic identity.

Appropriately employing discourse strategies in academic writing can effectivelyestablish the author's position and viewpoints and promote research achievements.As adiscourse strategy,metadiscourse can help authors integrate into the disciplinary community,bridge the pragmatic gap between authors and readers,and facilitate constructiveinteractions.

The research significance of this study can be divided into academic significance andpractical significance.Academic significance:This study combines the classic categorizationof metadiscourse to explore the important relationship between metadiscourse and discoursewriting,as well as the identity types constructed by different metadiscourse types.It aims toestablish a connection between metadiscourse and identity construction and build ananalytical framework.Therefore,this study delves into the linguistic expressions of identityconstruction,and metanalysis of discourse can analyze the linguistic rules behind theseexpressions.This can provide a more accurate understanding of the connotations andcharacteristics of identity construction in academic papers.
