摘要:本文是一篇英语语言学论文,本研究在概念隐喻和架构理论的基础上形成隐喻架构理论并融合身份建构理论,探讨官方新闻媒体通过隐喻架构建构出的新农人身份。

本文是一篇英语语言学论文,本研究采用定量与定性相结合的方法,建立语料库并运用MIP隐喻识别方法力图回答以下问题:(1)中央新闻媒体运用的隐喻性词汇表达所构成的隐喻性表层架构有哪些?农业发展的不同层面是如何通过隐喻架构来呈现的?(2)新闻媒体如何使用隐喻词汇标记呈现新农人身份的以及在不同隐喻性表层架构之间的互动下所传达出的价值倡导是什么?

Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1 Research Background

News coverage is the most popular and persuasive way for the public to obtain information. The news media are not only information transmitters, but also reviewers. The news released by them affects the public’s cognition of things through discourse expression. In recent years, the news media have been reporting on the new farmer group. With the continuous expansion of the “new farmer” team, it can be seen that the news media have played an important role in the publicity of this group and virtually constructed the identities of the new farmer group. As an important part of the discourse system with Chinese characteristics, media discourse not only affects the cognition of the domestic public, but also affects the cognition of the foreign audience about the current situation in China. However, foreign reports on China are mostly based on the United States and other western countries, and rarely study the effect of China’s international communication from the actual situation in China (Si Xianzhu, 2021). The international communication discourse with Chinese characteristics should not only spread China’s international image in the macro, but also pay attention to the benign interaction between the state and citizens, and shape the national image in multiple dimensions (Jing Xuemin & Li Yanbing, 2010).Therefore, analyzing the identity construction of the new farmers by the news media will help China take the initiative to master the international right of speech, refine the new concept and expression of “farmers”, and improve the Chinese image. Besides, it can also help China’s “new farmer” image go to the world, spread the “Chinese story” and “Chinese dream”, and enable the public at home and abroad to understand China’s image in a three-dimensional way.

1.2 Purpose of the Study

This thesis has three research aims. Firstly, this thesis explores the feasibility of combining conceptual metaphor, framing theory and identity construction theory in terms of the theoretical perspective. Many scholars in the field of linguistics are aware of the importance of media discourse on the construction of collective identity, but the studies of the construction of collective identity by the media have mainly focused on the discursive strategies of the media (Zhao Xiufeng & Song Bingbing, 2021). Language is a dynamic form of social practice that constructs social identity, social relations and people’s understanding of the world (Xiang Yunhua, 2009: 189), therefore, this thesis combines Lakoff’s conceptual metaphor theory with framing theory to form the metaphorical framing theory and incorporate identity construction theory into it to explore the feasibility of metaphorical framing theory in the construction of collective identity.

Secondly, new farmers are the representatives of agricultural development in the new era and China central media have made a lot of reports on them to promote the dissemination of their images.
