4 Application of Fusion of Horizon in The Kite Runner
Before the analysis, some background information about the author, the text and thetranslator are given for the purpose of a better understanding of the original text. Then itfocuses on the feasibility of fusion of horizon in Li Jihong’s translation of The Kite Runner todiscuss the reason why his version is widely accepted. Then Gadamer’s fusion of horizon areapplied into the text to analyze the Chinese version translated by Li Jihong. It is the mainbody part of the thesis focusing on how the interpreter fuses his horizon with the author andthe text.
4.1 Analysis of the Source Text
In the process of translation, the author, the text and the translator are the maincharacters and the fusion of horizon is the fusion of the horizon of the three. So first it isnecessary for us to have a brief discussion about them.Khaled Hosseini is an Afghan-American novelist and professional physician inCalifornia. He is born in 1965 in Kabul, well-educated and interested in writing. His fatherwas a diplomat, so he went to many countries. But he still loves his homeland most, whichwas a peaceful and thriving city at that time. Yet because of the invasion of Soviet Union, hehad to move to American with his father. In 2003, he wrote his first book The Kite Runnerwhich quickly became the bestseller and gained him great reputation. Then in 2007 and 2013,hia another two books, One Thousand Splendid Suns and the Mountain Echoed werepublished respectively once again gaining great praise. In fact, his growing experience is quite like the character Ameir of The Kite Runner andthe book is partly like autobiography. He saw the suffering of Afghan people and the crueltyof the war and revealed the mysterious veil of Afghan to the world. The book is imbued withspecial Afghan cultural, conveys a sense of exoticism. No wonder that it is beloved by peoplearound the world. In 2006, because of its great and far-reaching international influence,Hosseini won the UN humanitarian award, and was entitled a Good-will Envoy to the UnitedNations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Hosseini himself is also considered as “the world's mostfamous Afghans”.

Conclusion
According to Gadamer, translation is an extreme example of interpreting. Moreparticularly, translating is the process in which the translator with his historicity fuses his ownhorizon with that of the ST in a cross-cultural historical context and forms a new horizon, andthen he constructs a new text, namely, the TT, by using the newly acquired horizon in thetarget language, which is soaked with the TC. In the process of understanding and translating, the interpreter must create conditions to fuse his horizon with the ST, and make the TTexpress the result of fusion of horizon. The application of fusion of horizon into the studies ofcross language culture is mainly to find the correspondence between the target text and thesource text. The real problems of translation are not technical, they are human (Nida, & Tabler,2004:188). In hermeneutics, the interpreter are considered as human with their horizons, notjust reproduces th
