摘要:本文是一篇商务英语翻译论文,笔者以华健(埃塞俄比亚)为例,得出以下结论。首先,可以注意到,跨文化冲突管理是开展国际业务的公司不可回避的任务。尽管冲突可能无法避免,但公司应牢记,首要任务是公平处理冲突。
Nancy (1995) suggested that there are three options for solving cultural conflictswithin an organization: override, compromise, and integration. Override is consideredan influential culture within the organization that prevails over other cultures. Thiskind of scheme can realize the unity of culture in the short term, but the weak culturewithin the organization is suppressed, which is easy to arouse the dissatisfaction ofsome employees and lead to more intense conflict. Compromise indicates that variouscultures within the organization compromise with each other. Only if there are littlecultural differences within the organization, consideration could be given to the use ofthis scheme since compromise does not fundamentally eliminate differences andconflicts, and what remains are only ostensibly invisible. The integration of culturerefers to mutual penetration and integration of various cultures within the organization.This scheme can be accepted and recognized by the majority which helps to realizestability, but to achieve a win-win situation within the organization takes a relativelylong time. In correspondence to the above modes of cross-cultural conflictmanagement, Nancy proposed that seven strategies be adopted to bring up differenteffects(See Figure 2-2):
