sp;verbal  forms  so  a  correct  usage  of  language  could  end disputes  and  avoid  misunderstanding.  Well,  this  is  half  right.  The  island  disputes  in South China sea are, as it were, performed mainly in a verbal form, a “words” war if speak  frankly.  Of  course,  this  is  not  a  result  of  wrongful  language  usage,  but  due  to different narratives people live in and believe in. With ever-more people attaining the language of English and the translations and their original texts being juxtaposed with each other in English Digest, it is no longer the  preserve  of  translation  connoisseurs  and  academic  polymaths  to  be  able  to  delve into  the  translation  phenomena.  A  focus  on  what  Chinese  translators  actually  do through English Digest opens up fresh possibilities and opportunities to find out what kind  of  a  role  translators  play  by  disseminating  their  (re-)narrations  on  a  societal scale.   Out of observations of news regarding island disputes, this thesis finds that direct and  clear  intervention  by  translators  in  the  translations  do  not  appear.  In  this  sense, they are basically a batch of translators who are faithful to the original texts. But this by  no  means  denotes  that  these  Chinese  translators  are  neutral,  impartial  and non-partisan in Diaoyu and Huangyan islands conflicts. Quite  the  opposite,  along  with  translation  scholars,  translators  partake  in  the construction  of  narratives,  which  they  believe  are  right  and  just.  They  are  staunch custodian  and  promoter  of  Chinese  mainstream  narratives.  And  they  are  sometimes like  soldiers,  metaphorically  speaking,  to  fight  against  narratives  that  run  counter  to ours,  if  necessary.  Their  imprints  of  one-sidedness,  partiality  and  non-neutrality  are always present. Alongside this non-neutrality lies their sincere patriotism.
