摘要:Through the analysis of the influence of teachers’ written feedback on students’writing ability, it can be proved that the application of proper written feedback canhelp the students improve their wiring ability.
Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Background of the Present Study
With the development of world economy and the frequent exchanges betweencountries, English as a world language, has become one kind of CommunicationBridge between different people. Listening, speaking, reading, writing andinterpreting are basic requirements for all the English learners. Especially, Englishwriting is one of the most important skills in learning English. And it is also anindispensable way to communicate with each other. Simultaneously, now it has a largeproportion in the whole high school English study for the new English curriculumstandard requirement. So English writing is a great challenge for both teachers andstudents in the senior high school. In recent years, both teachers and students havedone a lot of work to improve English writing ability. However, the result of theseefforts seems far from satisfactory. Through analyzing the reasons of this problem,two aspects are often ignored. One is about the way of teachers’ written feedback tostudents and the other is students’ attitude and response to teachers’ written feedback.Teachers’ written feedback to students’ writing is so important but there seemsnot to achieve the best using effect. In fact, many compositions have been done bystudents and teachers in the present English teaching. However, some errors are stillappeared in the students’ writing, that is to say, the English writing ability of them isnot really improved. From this we can realize that many teachers do not give properguidance to students’ writing with the help of feedback.

1.2 Significance of the Present Study
Also based on the new English curriculum standard (2001), some requirementsin it should be applied in the English writing teaching and it does well to students’writing ability. The new English curriculum standard requires that students shouldkeep positive learning attitude to study English and the positive attitude is the key tothe success of English learning. At the same time, the fourth part of the new Englishcurriculum standard is implementation suggestion. And the second point of it isevaluation suggestion. It proposes that teacher evaluation or feedback should makestudents build up confidence, self-perception and experience progress and successcontinually in the English learning process. Teacher feedback ought to reflectstudents’ principal status and examine themselves to be better. These requirementsprove how to give written feedback is a question that is worth studying.Concerning the study of the influence of teachers’ written feedback on students’ writing ability exists at both home and abroad. However, most of them are aboutuniversity students. In contrast, some related researches at home are less. So theresearcher aims for English writing in the senior high school and try to find students’attitude to written feedback and the influence of written feedback on students’ writing.Therefore, the significance of the paper is to find appropriate written feedback waysto improve students’ writing ability.
