摘要:本文是英语语言学论文,本研究旨在对中、也门学生进行比较研究。本研究旨在探讨面对中国和也门学生的困难,策略和两组之间的差异。与会者分别来自也门和中国的20名学生,四所高校参与。
sured through their grammatical errors, communicative competence was measured through their strategies competence, appropriateness in addition to their fluency. The tables in appendix 5 showed the students performance in the following aspect: Time ( how long they spoke ), speech rate ( how many words per minute ), pauses ( less than 2 seconds wasn’t calculated and considered as articulation pauses ), disfluency, length of sentences ( how many words per a sentence ), length of utterances ( how many syllable per a word ), grammatical mistakes, appropriateness usage. The duration of speaking varied greatly between Chinese and Yemen students . 60% of Chinese students talked for 2 min while less than half of the Yemeni students did. The sentence length with Chinese students varied but in general most students used long sentences which may contain 20 words while Yemeni students prefer short sentence to avoid making mistakes. Because of long sentences Chinese students got more mistakes in their grammar and usage appropriateness.

Conclusion
Learning and using a foreign language or even a second language in daily communications is definitely complex (Fulcher’s .2003). This research aims to investigate these difficulties and differences between Chinese and Yemeni students , through various linguistic and communicative aspects ( grammatical , phonological , fluency , strategies ….). this chapter contains findings , implications and research limitations . The study revealed a great differences in aspect of studying habits. Chinese students are very hard working; they spent long times studying even during their free time. They consider studying as their main aim and goal, this can be shown clearly through their answers in the questionnaire. They don’t consider writing as a main difficulty like Yemeni students because they spent their time studying grammar and witting their homework for hours. In contrast, Yemeni students just spent few time doing that comparing to Chinese. Chinese education system have given Chinese students a great environment which help them just focus on studying and improving themselves, this including dorms, libraries, and websites.
