摘要:More relevant researchesare needed in the future. MI theory can not only be applied to English reading teaching, but also suitable fororal English, English listening and writing, and so on.
intends to explore the effectiveness of applying MultipleIntelligences theory to the teaching of English reading in order to improve the achievements of Englishreading teaching in junior high school. If the result of the experiment is positive, it will have great practicalimportance in improving English reading teaching in junior high school in our country.
1.2 Research Objectives
In this
thesis the author intends to study the application of multiple intelligences theory to the teachingof English reading in junior high school. This study is undertaken to find out whether the application of MItheory in English reading class will arouse students’ interest and build up their confidence in learningEnglish, and whether it will promote students’ English reading proficiency.The research questions to be addressed in the study will focus on the following:(1) In what way will the application of MI theory in English reading class arouse students’ Englishlearning interest and promote their motivation?(2) To what extent will the application of MI theory in English reading class improve students’ readingability and grades?The experiment study is carried out for one term in Shangqiu No. 13 Middle School; data related tothese research questions will be collected and analyzed.
1.3 Organization of the Thesis
This thesis is made up of six chapters.In the first chapter, research background, research questions and organization of the thesis areanalyzed.Chapter two is the
literature review. In this chapter, background of multiple intelligences theory is firstintroduced. Then description of multiple intelligences theory is provided. The comparison betweentraditional view of intelligence and multiple intelligence theory is followed. After that, implications of MItheory in education and teaching practice are presented. Lastly, researches on MI theory abroad and inChina are provided.

In this study, research instruments such as tests, questionnaires, classroom observation and survey areused and data are analyzed to attest the effectiveness of the application of multiple intelligences theory inEnglish reading lessons. This chapter summarizes major findings and implications of the research. At thesame time, limitations of the study are presented and the author also gives some suggestions for futureresearch.
