The source language text of this translation practice report is selected from The BoyTravellers in the Far East Part 2,which is a travel novel written by American journalistand writer Thomas Wallace Knox.It takes readers to visit Southeast Asian countries morethan 100 years ago from a unique perspective.This translation task is to translate theEnglish source text into Chinese.Chapters 9-12 are selected for translation because thecontents of these chapters can best represent the cultural characteristics of Southeast Asiancountries.These chapters mainly describe what Dr.Bronson and the two boys saw andheard in Thailand.The whole translation material is about 16,000 English words,and thetranslation practice report is about 8,600 English words.

1.2 Significance of Translation Task
