;is  distinguished  from  scientific  discourse  by being  a  kind  of  thinking  by  means  of  metaphor.”(Wellek  &  Warren  1985:186) Because of the close relation between metaphor and poetry, Kennedy and Gioia said, “There  are  many  other  things  I  have  found  myself  saying  about  poetry,  but  the chiefest  of  these  is  that  it  is  metaphor,  saying  one  thing  in  terms  of  another.” (Kennedy & Gioia 2002:140) Many  scholars  choose  English  poems  as  the  object  of  their  studies  while  the angle and the questions of the study are various. Some of them like Chen Qingxun in his doctoral dissertation T.S.Eliot: Towards a Metaphorical Poetics (2006), discusses the metaphors in T.S.Eliot from the angle of poetics, religion and culture. And Chen raises an opinion that poetics and metaphor share the same origin, nature and feature. Both  of  them  express  some  life  experiences  or  embody  these  experiences  a  visible and  sensible  form  in  an  indirect  way.  In  another  study  An  Analysis  of  Song  of Solomon  from  the  Perspective  of  Concept  Metaphor  (2013)  the  writer,  Yao  Yanju, uses  the  corpus-based  approach  to  collect  few  dozen  poems  which  have  conceptual metaphors  from  Song  of  Solomon.  Sorting  and  analyzing  them  systematically,  Yao illustrates  the  cognitive  process  of  the  conceptual  metaphors  in  these  texts.
