CIE is an important channel of ideological and moral education.First of all,theCIE will not only teach professional knowledge,but also shape students’values,andhelp students establish a positive attitude towards life and a sense of socialresponsibility.At the same time,the promotion of CIE is helpful to improve students’moral quality.It can cultivate students’moral qualities such as honesty,respect,andfairness,and lay a good foundation for their personal development and social adaptation.In addition,in the process of promoting CIE,teachers will cultivatestudents’critical thinking,encourage students to apply theoretical knowledge topractice,and maintain physical and mental health,which are conducive to students’all-round development.Therefore,the comprehensive promotion of CIE in collegesand universities is helpful to realize the all-round development of students.

2.2 An Overview of Curriculum-based Ideological Education

2.2.1 Background of CIE

As the future main force for the construction of socialism with Chinesecharacteristics,the ideological education of college students is particularly vital.Withthe introduction of relevant government documents,the concept of CIE is graduallyspreading widely.

In October 2004,the Opinions on Further Strengthening and Improving theIdeological Education of College Students,issued by the CPC Central Committee andState Council,mentioned that all courses in colleges and universities have thefunction of educating students,and all teachers have the responsibility of educatingstudents.This emphasizes that teachers,regardless of which curriculum they teach,should take on the two major responsibilities of knowledge teaching and valueshaping.In 2014,the concept of CIE was initially introduced in Shanghai.Afterward,a series of speeches by General Secretary Xi and a range of important documentswere issued,which made the concept of CIE more and more deeply rooted in people’sminds.It has become the direction and goal of all kinds of courses in variousinstitutions in China in the new era.
