e counted according to the standard of numbering. And Li Yuming (2000) believes that the extent is also included in the quantity category. “Quantity” is ubiquitous. Anything, specific or abstract, can be quantified (Shi Yuzhi, 2000). Therefore in languages, the classifier is a special phenomenon, which is often to modify emotion nouns. That is to say, the classifiers are meant to measure the extent of a certain emotion. This paper tries to catch a glimpse into human beings’ concepts of emotion through a comparison of the classifier- emotion noun collocations between English and Chinese. The results of the contrast are listed as followed. In the CCL, all the entries about classifiers collocated with the four basic emotion nouns—“喜悦”, “愤怒”, “悲伤”, “恐惧”, are extracted. And then those entries that did not conform to the standards of classifiers in question are removed, as shown in the following table.

Conclusions
This chapter draws a conclusion of the study. Firstly, the major findings of the study will be summarized and the implications of the study will be presented. In addition, this chapter will point out the limitations of the present study and put forward some suggestions for further study. This study makes a d eep analysis of a s pecial language phenomenon—classifier- emotion noun collocations from the aspects of semantic and syntactic features. And a comparison of this phenomenon is also conducted between English and Chinese. Furthermore, this paper tries to study into the reasons leading to the similarities and differences of classifier- emotion noun collocations between English and Chinese in
Reference to two theories: the theory of conceptual metaphor and Theory of Boundedness and Unboundedness. The above study is based on t hese two corpuses: Chinese Language Study Center of Peking University and Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA). Several major findings are listed as follows: Firstly, there are some similarities in classifier- emotion noun collocations between English and Chinese. In semantic aspect, both English and Chinese use shape classifiers and species classifiers to collocate with emotion nouns. Behind those collocations are some similar metaphors: SHAPE IS EMOTION. In syntactic aspect, classifier- emotion noun collections in English and Chinese tend to appear in the similar syntactic construction: existential sentences. Secondly, despite the similarities, there are some differences between English and Chinese. In semantic aspect, different conceptual metaphors are employed to determine the classifiers to collocate with emotion nouns. In Chinese, BODY PART IS CONTAINER OF EMOTION and PART IN A WHOLE IS EMOTION are two metaphors peculiar to Chinese. Thus, “
