Chapter Four   A Case Study of Wang Hongyin’s English Translation of the Chinese Yuan Qu Poems  

In this chapter, the author will begin with an introduction to Wang Hongyin and a simple description of the book 100 Yuan Qu Poems in English, and then conduct a case study, which is the main part of the present chapter, of the Yuan Qu poems collected in that book and his translations of them will be made, with emphasis on exploration into the  translation  strategies  and  methods  Wang  employs  on  the  basis  of  analysis  of  some examples.  In  the  process,  the  consistency  between  the  actually  applied  strategies  and methods  by  Wang  and  the  strategies  and  methods  he  claims  to  have  applied  in  the preface of the book will also be considered. 

4.1 Wang Hongyin and His 100 Yuan Qu Poems in English 
Wang  Hongyin  (1953-  ),  with  the  pen-name  Zhu  Mo,  born  in  Huayin,  Shaanxi province,  works  as  Professor  of  English  Department,  Doctoral  Tutor,  Director  of Postdoctoral  Program,  and  of  Translation  Studies  Center  of  College  of  Foreign Languages,  Nankai  University.  At  present,  he  is  also  Chairperson  of  Chinese  Classics Translation  Society,  and  a  specialist  member  of  Translators  Association  of  China. Professor  Wang  is  a  prolific  scholar,  poet,  and  translator,  having  published  over  50 monographs  and  translated  books  and  90  articles.  As  a  scholar,  he  has  gone  in  for translation  studies,  and  also  for  studies  on  philosophy,  literature,  arts,  and  psychology.
