Yet the  increasing  need  in  legal  translation  must  be  paid  with  due  attention.  The  poor quality  of  legislative  text  translation  will  definitely  hinder  the  dissemination  of legislators’ legal intent and further hinder the construction of the socialist legal system. For  the  cases  involving  foreign  affairs,  unqualified  English  versions  of  legislative texts will serve as a source of trouble rather than a helper.  Secondly,  though  an  equivalence  strategy  has  been  widely  recognized  in  legal translation, there is no applicable TQA model set for evaluating legal texts yet, which is  of  vital  importance  to  standardize  legal  translation.  The  researches  and  studies conducted  in  TQA  area  are  mainly  case  studies  which  lack  systemic  analysis,  or  are just criticism of existing models proposed by foreign scholars, such as House’s (1977) model.  House  is  the  first  to  propose  a  relatively  sound  model  for  translation  quality assessment,  but  her  model  fails  to  take  the  characteristics  of  legal  texts  into consideration when put into legal translation quality assessment. The present study is thus  intended  to  make  an  effort  to  the  translation  quality  assessment  in  legislative texts. The  above  two  reasons  are  two  major  motivations of the present study. In view of previous studies on translation theory and translation quality assessment model, the present  study  will  build  a  revised  TQA  model  with  specific  parameters  applicable  to evaluate the quality of the legislative translation.

2.2 Previous Studies on Corpus-based
