al and cultural aspects. Corpus-based study is based on large amounts of real data and samples. For example, semantic prosody, as a semantic imagination between certain word and its collocations, focuses on the collocations based on corpus and relies on the collocations, which expands the study boundary as a complementary part for traditional lexics. So a corpus-based study will be beneficial to analyze the process of lexicalization and grammaticalization. By comprehensive analysis of the English word bling and the Chinese word ―Xing(性), this study will analyze the collected data by observing semantic meanings, usage properties, and expanding process.

1.2 Purpose and Significance of This Research
The ongoing research gives a comprehensive analysis of the two words respectively, the English word bling and the Chinese word ―Xing(性), by corpus study and related theoretical support. Aims and potential significance of the study are laid out as follows: Firstly, through analyzing from various aspects based on corpus, it produces a relatively new
methodology for case study, which is helpful to understand the processes and linguistic terms in return. Secondly, the results of the study could supply feedback and supplement, if any, to the theories of grammaticalization and lexicalization. And it shall hopefully become an illustration of future studies. Thirdly, by introducing the idea of semantic prosody, it will enrich people‘s knowledge of word-combination, strengthen the understanding of the word meanings, and lead the attention to collocation phrases and semantic tendency. Besides, it will be helpful for language teaching and dictionary editing. Finally, the changing of semantic meaning in grammaticalization and lexicalization processes could be a supply to demonstrate the inner and outer aspects influencing the mechanism of word changing.
