This is an unusual behaviour in the 19th century American, because women at that time prefer to marry a rich man to have a coszy and sumptuous life. Jo refuses to be a conventional wife who must devote herself to the domestic duty and be totally dependent on her rich husband. She prefers to keep being individual and independent. As time goes on, Jo starts to think about her life. She marries Professor Bhar, a professor who is poor in money but rich in knowledge and spirit. She finally knows to control herself and learns to comprise between ideality and reality ( He Xiaoying, 2011: 151). After marriage, they found a school to look after her children and poor boys in the house left by Aunt March. Jo combines her marriage and literary pursuit in the best way, and keeps her individualism.

Upon knowing this unfair affair, Jo gets angry and even advises her to take away all her things from the fair. Feeling disappointed, Amy still thinks it’s a bad idea, she makes her mind to settle in by herself in her own way. She is confident that she can settle the problem, and determines to conquer her enemy by kindness. Amy does as the hostess asks, finally Mrs. Chester and the girls know they are wrong, and Amy forgives them generously.
