such as linguistics,anthropology, and cultural study.Discourse analysis is generally recognized as one of the vast used, but one of the leastdefined domains in linguistics (Schiffrin,1994:5). In 1952, Harris firstly came up withdiscourse analysis and he put forward that sentence, as the primary target of discourseanalysis, could be analyzed in discourse. He thought that there were specific forms of usinglanguage in special situations. These discourses shared particular meanings, and hadrepresentative linguistic features. What these meanings are and how they are achieved inlanguage are central interest for discourse analysis. Discourse analysis is a general term for anumber of approaches to analyze written, vocal, or sign language use, or any significantsemiotic event according to the definition in Wikipedia.As a kind of discourse, conflict talk is stressed for the following reasons: (a) It is a kindof social activities stipulated by rules and explained by those rules. Namely, it is a sociallygoverned interactive activity; (b) It is a jointly produced cooperative activity; (c) It is anaim-oriented communicative activity; (d) It is generated in use; (e) It occurs as adisorganized process; (f) It occurs in a context and it is context sensitive.

2.2 Conflict Talk
Conflict talk is a common and natural phenomenon in daily communication. However,the
history of studies on conflict talk is very short. The studies on conflict talk didn’t appearuntil the mid 1970s when just some pioneering researchers referred to the topic.Although we dislike to acknowledge it, conflict talk is a common and complicatedphenomenon in our everyday life. It often happens in the process of people’s communication,and forms a big barrier to a successful communication. In some interviews, conversationsand other social communications, it occurs when a speaker and a hearer express differentviews or two parties disagree with each other. In order to keep the stability and harmony ofour social relationship, we ought to deal with conflict in a proper way. Because of theimportance of it, many researchers pay attention to the study of conflict talk. In 1990,Grimshaw employed the term “conflict talk” for the first time. According to Grimshaw(1990), conflict talk means verbal interaction known as arguments, disputes, quarrels,squabbles, and the like. When communicators are involved in a conflict talk, they usuallydisagree with each other on their ideas or attitudes.Zhao Yingling (2004: 37), a scholar at home, argued that conflict talk happened whenone communicator objected to the other’s utterances or when two parties held differentviewpoints. According to her, conflict talk refers to a general concept and it includes avariety of oppositions, such as disputing, arguing, opposing, and squabbling, and herdefinitions are based on Grimshaw’s.
