Conclusion
This study aims to investigate whether input frequency affects the acquisition ofMWVs. It tries to find out whether difference emerges with the increase of inputfrequency,whether the effects of input frequency lead to differences in the acquisitionof both receptive and productive knowledge of MWVs, and whether different modes ofinput frequency—verbatim repetition and varied repetition have different effects on theacquisition of MWVs.To investigate these questions, I chose two classes of high school students andgave them six times' input. Tests were carried out after every two inputs. It was foundthat scores of the three tests were different. It proves that input frequency does haveeffects on EFL learners' acquisition of MWVs. To further explore the differences due todifferent frequencies of input, the study compared the three test scores and found thegap got widened from the first test to the third test. It suggests the more input learnersreceive the better performance they have in the process of learning MWVs. In addition, participants made greater improvement from two encounters to four encounterscompared with four encounters to six.
