摘要:性别差异在语言中的体现从上个世纪七十年代就己成为众多语言学家讨论的热点。但是他们都把重点放在对语音、词汇、语法等语言内部结构体现出的性别差异的研究上。很少语言学家注意到语言交际中存在的性别差异，而对礼貌这一言语行为中体现的性别差异的研究则更是凤毛麟角。本文将对男女在使用赞扬语这一礼貌言语行为中的表现进行归纳分析。对这一课题的研究大多数是以英语为主，对英语以外语种进行的此项研究寥寥无几，笔者认为很有必要在这一方面做一些尝试。
    本文在研究方法上采用了问卷调查的方式。语料来源于当代大学生，因为他们的语言更标准更具代表性，并且反映了语言使用的发展趋势。本文旨在于从性别的角度去探讨男女在赞扬语及其回应的使用上是否存在差异，并将从以下三部分实现这一目的。首先，介绍以往语言学家的相关研究及其结论;其次，以笔者的调查得来的大量事实和数据为依据所进行的分析与论证;最后，本文将从文化和权利两方面解释赞扬行为中的性别差异的原因。
    先前提到，英语以外语种的此项研究很少。因此本文的突破点将是不同文化背景下反映出来的赞扬行为的性别差异。此外，以往语言学家在对此方面研究时总是回避男女说话人地位不同导致的赞扬行为的差异，而笔者认为有必要考虑这一点。由于受笔者水平及研究条件的限制，必然存在许多不足。例如，本文研究的取样范围局限在大学生中，虽然他们最具代表性，但是仍不足以反映所有中国人的赞扬语及回应的态度。尽管如此，笔者仍希望抛砖引玉，以使这一课题在未来的研究中得以完善。
Abstract：Gender differences associated with language have become a hot topic underdiscussion by most linguists since 1970s. However they focused mainly on genderdifferences existing in pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and these kinds ofinternal features of languages. Only a few linguists showed little interest in genderdifferences in communications and few of them made researches with regard tocompliment behaviour. In addition, most of the studies on sex-based differences incompliment behaviour reflected the information of English-speaking people, andother people around the world were neglected. Therefore, I believe that it isnecessary to investigate the phenomenon in other countries.
     In my thesis, I adopt interview paper to collect real data from students at auniversity, for they apply more standard language and their usage reflect thetendency in future. 1fie purpose of my thesis is to answer whether there are anydifferences between women and men both in compliments and complimentresponses from three aspects:  first, I shall establish that there are genderdifferences in compliment behaviour showing in the pioneers' works; second, Ishall show how it differs by the data from my collection; lastly, I shall attempt toanswer why it differs, from cultural and power aspects.
     Being different from most pioneers' works which mainly reflected the informationof English-speaking people, my thesis will focus on gender differences incompliment behaviour existing in cross-culture. Moreover, gender differences incompliment behaviour which result from different status of women and men wereavoided in most former researches, so I shall consider them in my thesis. Inaddition, as my thesis was confined by my capability and condition of research,there are some inevitable limitations. However, I simply hope that my thesis willact as propulsion for the future votarists.
