摘要:Teachers should help maintain students’ curiosity and enthusiasm about oral English and make sure of their constant efforts in and out of class in secondary vocational schools.
ategies, so it is rather challenging to teach them English.When English teachers are to work out their teaching plans,they should be aware of the students’ present language proficiency,their interests,their feelings about English teaching as well as their needs, especially oral English.Textbooks and other teaching materials should be carefully selected.Many approaches should be adopted to fit into students’ need.Relaxing classroom activities are good ways to make students feel comfortable and confident to speak English.All the out-of-class resources and activities are the expansion and complement of in-class teaching and activities.Students can broaden their eyesight,improve their ability of language performance and consolidate what they have learnt in class by means of colorful out-of-class activities.What’s more,its development provides a challenge to the in-class teaching, promotes and greatly influences the classroom teaching.Teachers should carefully design the classroom tasks and creatively involve all students in each step.Teachers should help create a positive affective atmosphere with discipline and harmony.Teachers manage to have the class organized in a dynamically cohesive way;special care should be given to them and encourage them to be active and express themselves.
4.1 Interactive Teaching in Secondary Vocational School English Class
Interaction is the collaborative exchange of thoughts, feelings or ideas between two or more people. Though interaction, students can increase their language store as they listen to or read authentic linguistic materials, or even the output of their fellow students in discussions, skits, joint problem-solving tasks, or dialogue journals. In interaction, students can use all they possess of the language -all they have learned or casually absorbed- in real-life exchanges.(Douglas, 2002:67)
In interactive classroom there are loads of activities which offer students opportunities to communicate in different social contexts and in different roles.Such activities are both entertaining and instructive. The following forms of the interactive activities are often used in English classroom: questions and answers, games, discussions, and role-plays.
English teachers should try to make every student participate in classroom activities;teachers should gear their teaching to the needs of all the students in the class, never look down upon one of them;we’d better empathize all the students, especially those who have difficulties in English learning and help them patiently.
4.1.1 Questions and Answers
Question-answer is a positive interaction.Recent research indicates that the type of question asked by the teacher influences both the length and complexity of student responses.The questions usually include open-ended questions, close-ended questions in the form of “Yes/No” questions, “or” questions, “wh-” questions and eliciting questions.Don’ t always insist on accuracy in 1anguage use:focus on what the students are saying.The information of their language is more important than the form.What’ s more,asking questions can create series of dialogues and discussion between teacher-student and student-student.We need to view any attempt at increasing learner involvement as a process involving the gradual and continual refinement of the learners’ ability to perceive and manage the learning task.Good questions le
