摘要:本文是英语词汇学论文,研究结果发现:两种词汇教学方法对于促进学生的词汇短期记忆方面都具有促进作用。然而自然拼读法对于促进学生的词汇长期记忆方面更为显著。

They generally think learning English words is too hard, since the quantity of words is large and the reading and spelling is difficult to memorize. In a word, learning English words reading and spelling effectively is very essential for the students. Therefore it is a great significance of the study on a new vocabulary teaching method. This study is beneficial for both students and teachers in many aspects. For the students’ part, first, Phonics could help the students understand the relationship between reading and spelling of the letters. By recognizing the spelling of the letters, the students could pronounce them correctly; by listening to the words, the students could write down the correct words. It can greatly improve the ability and efficiency of memorizing words. At the same time, Phonics shows much more advantages in the long words memorization. Because it greatly reduces the possibility that the students miss some letters or reverse the order of letters when students spell the words. Second, once the students get the rule of pronunciation, they could be more willing to read or learn new words by themselves. The more they read, the better sense of English they will get, which can give the students more sense of achievement and learning motivation. As a result, Phonics could stimulate the confidence and interest of learning and the autonomous learning ability, which will benefit the future study in English.

In this chapter, it focuses on the following parts: first, the introduction of Phonics, next, the underlying theoretical basis of the study, including critical period hypo
thesis, children’s language acquisition and children’s cognitive development, language transfer theory and phonetics awareness, then, the relevant studies of vocabulary teaching method in primary school abroad and at home, at last, the relevant studies of Phonics.
