5.1 Findings

For one thing,the author’s novel translation competence has improved through thetranslation task under the guidance of Eco-Translatology.Translation contains not onlythe conversion between languages,but also cultural collision.Before translation,thetranslator should know the differences between English and Chinese.In the process oftranslation,it is necessary to read the source text repeatedly to comprehend the writer’scommunicative intentions and accomplish the reproduction of the character images.Andif there is a cultural gap,information searching is needed to protect the cultural ecology.As for translation polishing,the translator should have a solid Chinese literaturefoundation to make the translation adapt to the Chinese linguistic ecology.

For another,the author found that the conversion of part of speech,free translation,addition,division,the change of word order and annotation are useful translationmethods and techniques in English-Chinese novel translation.For the translation ofwords withe vague meanings,the conversion of part of speech,free translation,additioncan help translators make the meanings concrete.Division,free translation,addition andthe change of word order can be used in the translation of long sentences to make thetarget text adapt to the linguistic ecology of Chinese.Annotation,free translation andaddition can be use to translate culture-loaded words to bridge the cultural gaps andconvey the correct cultural information to the target readers.
