As a language phenomenon, Spring Festival couplets are filled with creative and rich linguistic expressions, which attract many researchers to study. In the following, the author will introduce Spring Festival couplets briefly in order that it can make the scope of this study clearer. Gu Pingdan, Chang Jiang and Zeng Baoquan (1991) point out that Spring Festival couplets belong to antithetical couplets. It is pasted on Lunar New Year’s Eve to pray good luck and happiness. It is derived from Tao Fu and Men Shen. Tao Fu is such a thing that peach wood charms against evil, hung on the gate on the Lunar New Year's Eve in ancient times, while Men Shen means door god. At the beginning of spring, the first thing is to post goalkeeper and couplet. That is what modern men call pasting up Spring Festival couplets. The Spring Festival couplet includes two different senses. One is a kind of cultural phenomenon from the significance of folklore. The other is a literary genre from the stylistics point of view (Bai, 2011). It is a definition from the perspective of two different disciplines. Couplets displayed as one part of Chinese Spring Festival, is also called Chunlian. These are usually purchased at a market a few days before and glued to the doorframe. This definition tells us the time and the place it should be posted.Qin (2015) says that a couplet is composed of two lines of poetry that come next to each other, especially two lines that rhyme with each other and are of the same length. In addition, the lines should be posted vertically, with the first one on the right and the second one on the left. Some couplets also have a top scroll. A complete Spring Festival couplet is composed of the above three parts.
