Chapter Five Action Research of EnglishGrammar Teaching in College a Case Study ofNon-Finite Verb
5.1 Research Method
This research mainly adopts the method of action research. Action research mainlyrefers to teachers develop the research according to the problem of the teaching and thenmake the action plans to solve the problem. During the implementation process,teachers collect the statistics,analysis, evaluation and improve so as to make theteaching process, the consciousness of reflection and the ability of study development. The first week of class,the author made simulation exam, finding that students'basic knowledge and comprehensive application ability is generally weak. In thecomposition, the sentence patterns are monotonous and subject-verb is disagreement.What's more, some even the simplest subject-predicate sentences are made mistakes,which is far from the teachers' expectations.For this reason,the author finds the reasons why students are poor in grammarusing the questionnaire survey. Survey results show that: (1) most of the students reflectteachers only pay attention to grammar exercises in high school, very few developstudents' ability of the application of the grammar knowledge (2) teachers rarely assignstudents' composition exercises so that the application ability is not very strong.

Conclusion
The transition of English grammar teaching from senior high school to college hasbecome an essential work that is faced by college teachers. Although most researchersdid various study from different angles,such as the teacher's teaching,students' learningcharacteristics, the psychological characteristics of students, teaching material structureand the difference of the goal in the new curriculum, which focus on the teachingcontent and teaching method research. But this paper researched the college English andsenior high school grammar teaching from the common school's actual situation and thereason of the incoherent between senior high school and college at the same time it alsoproposed some methods and strategies to solve this problem.Through the action research, we can come to a conclusion: teachers need toimprove the English teaching method and enhance the efficiency of classroom incollege so that they can develop students' good study habits and improve their languagecompetence.
