, this research takes senior high school students and English teachers as the research participants and investigates the current situation of students’ cultivation of creative thinking ability in continuation writing in English, which is of certain significance for future research. Based on the results of the questionnaire and interview, the main findings of this paper in response to the research questions are as follows:

First, the development of students’ creative thinking is far from satisfactory, and the overall ability of creative thinking is not high. The three aspects of students’ creative thinking in descending order are flexibility, originality and fluency. Of these, students perform best in flexibility, followed by originality and fluency. Students show some tendency to think creatively in the continuation writing, but their abilities are varied and it is difficult to be characterized by more than one dimension at the same time. The students are unfamiliar with the concept of creative thinking and they do not know more about it, but they can realize its importance, hoping that teachers would cultivate creative thinking in the teaching of English continuation writing. At the same time, teachers’ awareness of the quality of thinking and the importance of cultivating creative thinking is insufficient, and teachers’ specific methods of fostering creative thinking need to be improved.
