ndterms in the food safety field; conversion was applied to the translation of four-characterphrases; literal translation and adjustment worked well in the translation of fuzzyexpressions. In translating fixed sentence patterns in the legislative texts including longsentences and “de(的)” structured sentences, measures were taken mainly for realizingclarity and conciseness. Linear processing was used for long sentences without complexstructures or components while reorganization and integration was employed in longsentences with multiple layers of components and converting was used for enumerativelong sentences. As for the translation of “de(的)” structured sentences, the first step wasdigging out and putting the understood subject in place for those “de(的)” structures withno head nouns and then the completed structures can be turned into adverbial clauses ofcondition.

Frankly, the lack of comprehensive field knowledge leaves some room for the authorto further improve the translation. Nevertheless, under the instruction of the author’ssupervisor, the translation of these Regulations can still stand as a reference for legaltranslators to some extent，especially for fledging translators, thus contributing to thetranslation of local regulations and rules. For the author herself, relentless efforts willcontinue to be made in strengthening the professional capabilities and broadening thevision to accommodate the growing and demanding need of legal translation.
