摘要:本文是高中英语教学论文,笔者通过以往的小学英语教学实践以及小学英语语法学习现状问卷调查发现,小学英语语法教学主要存在以下问题:部分学生在日常生活中无法准确、有意义而且得体使用语法结构。
1. Introduction

1.1 Research Background
With the development of globalization, English has become more and more important. As one of the three elements of language, grammar plays a significant role in English. In recent years, English curriculum in China has experienced a series of reforms. According to the grammar teaching requirements put forward by The Compulsory
Education Curriculum Standards in English (2011 Edition), we can see that grammar is becoming more and more vital. What’s more, grammar is essential for learning English because the ability of using grammar correctly is also an important part of communicative ability, and it is also a way to achieve the purpose of communication, which consists of students’ comprehensive ability of using English. Larsen-Freeman says language is a dynamic process of pattern formation by which human use linguistic forms to make meaning in context-appropriate ways1. Following from the definition of language, Larsen-Freeman then argues that grammar is one of the dynamic linguistic processes of pattern formation in language, which can be used by humans for making meaning in context-appropriate ways and she uses the word grammaring to describe the ability to use grammar structures accurately, meaningfully, and appropriately2. You cannot express yourself appropriately and meaningfully without using correct English grammar structures. It facilitates communication with others. Communication with others, though, is a primary, but not exclusive, function of language. From her point of view, we can see that the concept of grammar is changing and we can no longer regard it as what we’ve always been doing. Thus, it becomes more challenging for English teachers to teach grammar because they cannot teach it in the traditional way. Mastery of grammar not only means to remember grammar rules, but also to apply the rules in communication accurately, meaningfully, and appropriately whether in oral or written English.
