摘要:本文是高中英语教学论文,本文作者对实验班进行词块教学,而在控制班采用常见的语法翻译法进行教学。实验结束后,笔者对两个班级所有受试做了后测测试,测试内容选自甘肃省 2014 年高考英语作文部分,测试目的在于检验词块教学对于学生英语写作水平的影响。

In general, we cannot ignore the fact that all of the above mentioned writing teaching models are aimed at those students who have solid English foundation and obtained some basic English writing skills, when it comes to those who are not good at learning English and lack of basic grammar knowledge and sentence structures, all of the above-mentioned models are not the good choice and cannot solve the students’ problem because enough input in mind is the prerequisite for students to output when writing. The importance of vocabulary is self-evident since it is the foundation of all language learning skills as listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation. The well-known Brit ish linguist Wilkins (1963) once said that if there is no grammar rule, what we can do is lim ited. But nothing can be achieved if there is no vocabulary. The lexical chunk theory points out the direction for the present English teaching especially in vocabulary and writing. Becker (1975) pointed out that if we human beings want to express our ideas and thoughts, the first thing we need to do is to find out some prefabricated lexical chunks in the dictionary. Then we can make correct sentences by language processing mechanism in our mind. The last thing we need to do is to make these lexical chunks fluent language and fill in gaps of our concept. Nattinger&De Carrico (1992) claimed that the fluency of using a language is determined by how many lexical chunks are stored in our mind, not how many grammatical rules are stored. Since high middle school period is very important in cult ivat ing students’ writing ability, meanwhile, many of the high middle school students are faced with the college entrance examinat ion, writing takes rather high percentage of marks in the English examinat ion. So how to help those students with lim ited grammar knowledge to write a relatively good composition is one thing the teacher must take into consideration. It is important to apply lexical approach in high middle school English writing. So in this study, the author wishes to probe a new way to improve high middle school students’ English writing ability.
