oned it without hesitation, I never believed the words said by God. To deny religion was not to deny belief. She baptized the baby by herself sacred in her plain idea. She pointed out the cheating by the religion culture of Victorian clear mindely. It was worthy to notice this kind of scientific enlightened thought come from her husband. Finally it got the most reasonable use in this pure village girl's mind. Tess longed for social justice in sex, but "Her thought of justice in sex was only situated in rudiment of uncivilized woman self--consciousness hadn't rised to the rational level distinctly." Tess's resistance reflected keen conflict between the nature and the society. "Because of this character of primitive stupid, richness and harmony, it proved that woman's pursue for conventional life and delightful feeling was reasonable. But it couldn't realize in British of 19th century, was totally strangled by stifled Victorian culture." 4. Last thorough commentary to the inevitability of Tess's tragedy The tragedy of Tess's life l ied in the battle between the inherent will to enjoy and the circumstantial would against enjoyment. After her belief affair with Alec, she was no longer a simple girl, but her experiences have failed to demoralize her soul. Unexpended youth rises automatically within her after a temporary check bringing with it hope and an invincible instinct toward self-delight. Her loyalty to the man she loves, and the forbearance and nobility of her struggle the fate that ruled her life won the respect and sympathies of the reader. The tragedy of Tess, "A Pure Woman," was also the tragedy of the old, pure Wessex from which she comes. Both are corrupted and betrayed by the modern world in its various aspects: Tess's social class, Tess by Alec's parvenu hunger, and Angel's narrow, icy enlightenment; the influences of her parents' vanity, simple-mind; the countryside and its customs by the relentless encroachment of the new society with its railways, its gradual industrialization of the old methods of agriculture typified by the demanic threshing-machine on which Tess was tortured. In the novel three distinct layers of the past were distinguished. The remote pagan time of the Druids; the age when Christianity served the world well, and the modern age. Tess was affected by all three in different ways. Her remote ancestor was, appropriately, called Sir Pagan d'Urbervilles, and her kinship was emphasized by her sense of peace at the pagan place of Stonehenge. She professed a sort of Christian faith, though, as we had seen, in many ways it was conventional Christian morality that accounted for much of her suffering. Conclusion In this paper, we analyzed the reasons of the inevitable of Tess’s tragedy from two aspects: the outside causes and internal causes. The hypocritical era and morality of Victorian age, the pressure of Tess’s parents and the symbols of damage force Alec and Angel formed the outside causes. The internal causes included the contradiction between her submission and her pride independence and her indistinct equal thoughts. During the test of time for 108 years, the people's attention to Tess of the d'Urbervilles was added, the depth and the width of research beyond the past. Lenin compared worker's hardship described in it with the Russia's present situation affirmed the real of realism. Tess of the d'Urbervilles becomes the most acute denouncement against British ruling c论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
