Conclusion
The results of the investigations show that the intelligences of collegestudents vary in different fields, especially in musical field, most of thestudents are not good at music. An empirical study found that both Englishand music can give people a strong feeling of rhythm, and different levelsof musical intelligence has predictive power for learners' English listeningand speaking abilities (Pei Zhengwei, 2005). Therefore, learners need topay attention to cultivate their musical intelligence in daily life in order toimprove and enhance the rhythm of spoken English and perception ofauditory English indirectly. Thus, the importance of artistic and musicaleducation in the secondary / primary schools can be seen. The musicalintelligence can affect the students' English learning performance andlearning achievements directly. Musical intelligence education should startfrom childhood. The primary and secondary schools should pay attention tothe construction of teaching quality, and they also should try various waysto develop children’s musical literacy, thus this is contributing to theimprovement of musical intelligence, all these will lay a solid foundation tolearners’ potential for learning foreign language.
The results of the investigation show that the college students havedifferent interests in different learning styles. In the perceptual dimension ofEnglish learning styles, most of the learners prefer visual learning style, andmost of them do not like auditory learning style. College English CoursesTeaching / Learning Requirements issued by the Ministry of Education in2007 pointed out the need to focus on the assessment of students' Englishlistening and speaking ability. Therefore, teachers should implement thepolicy of the College English Curriculum Requirements, and train studentsto develop learning styles (focusing on developing English learners’ auditory learning style and enhancing English learners’ ability throughauditory inputs).
Multiple intelligences and English learning styles are related, but onlyfour kinds of intelligences and four kinds of English learning styles canconstitute benign matches. Therefore, in the process of learning English,students and teachers should pay attention to various types of multipleintelligences and learning styles at the same time, and to try to formbeneficial relationships between them, the students should choose theEnglish learning styles which can exert their own intelligent advantages andplay a helpful role in the process of English learning; teachers should befully aware of the characteristics of students’ intelligences and learningstyles.
