ion to the expression in the original texts, the thesisintends to find out the proportion of retaining, weakening or strengthening theoriginal literary effects in the translation, explore the possible rationale for thetranslation strategies and draw out potential implication for translation practice. Asthe phenomenon of feminist writing grows more and more popular in Chineseliterature world, literary translators can get some inspiration from this research andspawn better translations in their future practice of translating Chinese feministfiction.

1.4 Organization of the Thesis

This thesis falls into four parts:Chapter One gives a brief introduction, including the rationale, purpose andsignificance of this thesis.Chapter Two examines key concepts related with feminist translation theories andnarratological theories and offers a review of previous studies on Chinese feministfiction and its English translations.Chapter Three describes the methodology of this study. Research method, datasource, data analysis are explained in detail.Chapter Four analyzes the typical examples selected from the Chinese andEnglish materials. These data are grouped and analyzed specially to illustrate how theoriginal literary effect has been reproduced in the translation.Chapter Five presents the conclusion this study has drawn, pointing out theimplications for translation practices, and suggesting more valuable topics for furtherstudies in this field.
