Human beings as a species live in a complex network of relationships,a networkthat includes not only man and nature,but also the network of social relationships inwhich they live.Thus,the human quest for environmental justice inevitably presentsitself through these two relationships.Intra-generational inequity is the antithesis ofintra-generational equity,which is concerned with fairness between people of the samegeneration,with the aim of ensuring fairness of those who are alive today.Intra-generational environmental justice requires that contemporaries correctlyunderstand and manage the relationship between environmental rights andenvironmental obligations,and strive to achieve a balance between them.

However,the same generation has different levels of response to climate risks dueto differences in their economic development.As a result,environmental rights andobligations are in a state of imbalance.Debra J.Salazar et al.show that poverty-basedenvironmental and economic inequalities exhibit a moderate positive spatialcorrelation through the construction of a new database(592).In addition,manyscientific studies nowadays identify imbalances between developing and developedcountries in terms of economic growth and environmental protection through specificdata on land,water,air pollutant concentrations,etc.Therefore,uneven economicdevelopment can lead to environmental injustice.

B.Disparities in the Allocation of Resources

Besides geographical,economic factors,one of the main reasons for the unevendistribution of resources is the overall shortage of resources.In fact,not everygeneration has received its share of resources.At present,the accelerated developmentof the past has ignored the fact that resources are finite,which caused seriousenvironmental and ecological pollution.And depletion of resources has made itimpossible to guarantee the right to equal access to resources for present and futuregenerations.As a dimension of interpersonal environmental justice,intra-generationalenvironmental justice is a value based on the present,and its main goal is to reduce oreliminate environmental injustice between the same generations.If we look to thefuture and pursue sustainable economic,social and environmental development basedon intra-generational environmental justice,another dimension of interpersonalenvironmental justice will emerge,namely inter-generational justice.Inter-generationalinjustice is therefore broadly defined as inequity between generations,a concept that,when used in the ecological domain,refers primarily to the failure of the presentgeneration to meet the need to preserve natural resources for future generations ofhuman society.Specifically,it is primarily concerned with the contradiction betweenthe environmental interests of different generations,and the contradiction which ismainly manifested in the irreversible damage and pollution caused to the environmentby the present generation leading to a serious imbalance in the Earth’s ecosystem,thusjeopardizing the survival and development of future generations.
