Hong Sheng’s third up of life came when he  was  44  years  old.  He  changed  his  drama  The  Dance  Colorful  into  Chang  Sheng Dian, which made his bound into fame. Chang Sheng Dian was acted out and became the  most  popular  drama  at  that  time.  However,  Hong  Sheng’s  wild  character  was envied  with  these  achievements.  He  was  impeached  for  playing  music  during  the death  of  Empress  Xiaoyi  (the  imperial  concubine  of  Emperor  Kangxi).  He  had  to leave from the Beijing Imperial College and return to his hometown again because of discrimination  in  the  capital.  After  that,  Qing  Emperor  still  kept  the  Chang  Sheng Dian  and its scenes, the audiences’ love for  this  drama  didn’t  decrease  either.  Hong Sheng’s  friend  Mao  Qiling  wrote  preface  for  Chang  Sheng  Dian  which  made  this drama become fashionable for a time.

2.2   Previous Studies on English Translation of Chang Sheng Dian 
Chang  Sheng  Dian  is  the  representative  of  the  peak  in  Chinese  dramatic literature. The English translation of Chang Sheng Dian spreading Chinese dramatic culture to the world is of great importance. The author makes brief review of English translation of Chang Sheng Dian.  Yang  Xianyi  couple  translated  Chang  Sheng  Dian  into  The  Palace  of  Eternal Youth,  which  was  published  by  Foreign  Languages  Press  in  1955.  This  English translation  entered  into  Library  of  Chinese  Classics  Chinese-English  in  2010.  Yang Xianyi  couple  devotes  themselves  to  the  English  translation  of  Chinese  classical literature  historical  works  like  A  Dream  of  Red  Mansions,  which  greatly  affect  the whole  translation  field.  At  the  same  time,  they  make  contribution  to  the  cultural communication between the East and the West.  Professor  He  Yubin  translated  Chang  Sheng  Dian  into  The  Palace  of  Eternal Youth,  which  was  published  by  Caledonian  Publishing  Company  in  1999,  and  it entered into Serial in Comparative Literature and World Literature Chinese-English that was published by the Central Compilation & Translation Press in 2004.
