For her original writing style and insightful views in Milkman,Anna Burns becamethe first Northern Irish winner of the Man Booker Prize in 2018.Milkman also took theNational Book Critics Circle Award in 2018 as well as the Orwell Prize for political fictionin 2019.Burns was an established novelist before the advent of Milkman.And Milkman isnot a debut.Burns,was 56 when she won the Man Booker,and she had already publishedtwo novels:No Bones and Little Constructions.No Bones was shortlisted for the OrangePrize for Fiction in 2002 and won the Royal Society of Literature’s Winifred Holt byMemorial Prize in 2001.
