Globalization: An Empowering Force For Women?
1.0 Introduction
Globalization is generally recognized as a process that transforms local existence into global ones. Countries are united together and the earth 代写留学生论文becomes a planet village. This process combines forces of economy, technology, culture and Politics. It affects the relationship between contradictory nations, re-defines the value of every single item, and empowers the indiscriminate groups while alleviates conventional conflicts (Sassen 1998: p. 81). Besides other important issues, the change of gender inequality is one of the most noteworthy and disputable event. Some people believe that women have been empowered in the tide of globalization and the future is hopefully bright. It offers women more opportunities to work and thus being economically independent; women in recent years have achieved more rights in political process. Simultaneously, an increasing number of women have achieved Education, which in turn benefits their independence in economy and re-defined social status. Healthcare has also been the field with improvement in gender equality. However, many critics worry that gender inequality will be exacerbated when countries are integrated into one union. Critics such as Lechner and Boli (2000: p. 51) argue that many side effects have been brought along with the obvious benefits. What is even worse could be summarized as that these side effects potentially exist and may not emerge in a short time. If the potential problems are not addressed, the whole accomplishment of gender inequality will be totally destroyed. This essay will explore this issue by thoroughly analysing different sides and offer a personal understanding of it. Firstly, this essay will look at what advantages and disadvantages globalization brings to gender equality with regard to economic status. Following this, political status, education, health and culture will all be analysed. And, finally, conclusion will be made based on the analysis above.
