摘要:本文是一篇高中英语教学论文,本研究以建构主义理论和英语学习活动观为理论基础,旨在回答以下三个问题:(1)高中英语教师对主题意义探究的认知情况如何?(2)高中英语教师在基于主题意义探究的英语阅读教学中主要采用哪些教学策略?

pt from theCurriculum Standards.In responding to the question of whether they know theconception of the exploration of thematic meaning,Teacher C said the CurriculumStandard clearly proposed to create a class organized around the exploration ofthematic meaning.Teacher A and Teacher C both expressed that they had learned theCurriculum Standards in their university studies.They had a better understanding ofthe meaning of theme-based exploration,and they tried to apply this methodappropriately in their teaching at work.Teacher B also mentioned that the thematicexploration was clearly required in the Curriculum Standards,which she usuallyapplied in daily English reading teaching.

Chapter 5 Conclusion

5.1 Major Finding of the Research

From what has been mentioned above,it is easy to confirm that the three teachersin senior high school employ different teaching strategies in reading class to explorethe meaning of the theme.The major findings are presented as follows.

Firstly,the three English teachers understand the concept of thematic meaningexploration clearly,and they implement it actively in their daily reading teaching.They usually apply some teaching strategies like pictures,skimming,and scanning tolead students to explore the thematic meaning in reading classes.The logic of theactivities,the level of difficulty,students’participation,time limitation,etc.are bothfactors that will affect the effect of exploring the meaning of the theme.

Secondly,the three English teachers mainly use pictures,brainstorming,problemchains,group discussion,and so forth to guide students to explore the meaning of thetheme.They believed that different strategies in different stages of reading carry outdifferent degrees of thematic exploration.

Thirdly,through classroom observation,questionnaires and interviews,it can beseen that the effects of implementing strategies used in the three English teachers’reading lessons based on thematic meaning exploration has achieved good results.Thedegree of participation and cooperation of the students in classroom was quite high,and the students from different classes were basically active or average.At last,thethree teachers focus on different aspects when they review their classes.Teacher Cmentions the degree of exploration of thematic meaning,while Teacher Z focuses on amethod of guiding the exploration of the meaning of the theme.For Teacher D,flexibility in implementing strategies is important.
