4.1 Results
Table 4-1 is the analysis of the competence in finding metaphors between theexperimental group and the control group. The descriptive data shows that the p=0.759>0.05(a) in the pre-test of the experimental group and the control group,which mean thatthere no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group duringthe pre-test of competence in finding metaphors. The mean deviation also proves theconclusion mentioned above. As for the control group, the descriptive data shows that thep=0.275>0.05(a) between the pre-test and the post-test, with no significant difference. That isto say, the competence in finding metaphors of the control group changes little during thewhole process. As for the pre-test and the post-test of the experimental group, and thepost-test between the experimental group and the control group, the descriptive data showsthe p=0.000<0.05(a) and the p=0.003<0.05(a) respectively,with significant difference.

Conclusion
This study is conducted to research the necessity and feasibility of cultivatingmetaphorical competence by the quantitative method and the qualitative method. The subjectsare the junior English majors from the Foreign Language Department of Northwest A&FUniversity. The researcher spent fourteen weeks on the experiment of metaphorical teachingand conducted an interview after the experiment. And then the tests for metaphoricalcompetence are given to the subjects, including the competences of finding metaphors,interpreting metaphors, explaining metaphors and creating metaphors. Together with the testsresults and the interview,the main findings of this research are summarized in the following:
